Food Recovery Program
DID YOU KNOW...? Grayhawk has implemented a Food Recovery Program to help reduce food waste! The school has partnered with a local Food Bank to provide donations weekly on Wednesdays. Students who purchase a school lunch can donate unopened items that they do not want. Some examples include juices, yogurts, cheese sticks, pieces of fruit, and other sealed items. There are tubs located near the garbage bins where students can donate unwanted, cafeteria-purchased food. If you would love to help with this program, click HERE.
Volunteers (children are encouraged to help which is a great opportunity to discuss poverty and the importance of charity) will transfer food from the refrigerator (donated by a parent unaffiliated with Grayhawk - Thank You!) to coolers, and will bring the coolers to the front office for pick up. Volunteers can also choose to drive the donation to the food bank.
